Is pest management mandatory for hospitality businesses?
Hospitality business owners are legally required to ensure safe food. Pest control is explicitly part of this.
What do the regulations say?
Under European hygiene rules and the Hygiene Code for the Hospitality Sector, you must take measures to prevent and control pests and be able to demonstrate this. The NVWA may check this during an inspection.
Does it have to be a professional?
In principle, you can do it yourself, provided you ensure proper control and documentation. Many business owners choose a professional because they handle inspection, monitoring and reporting together.
Tip
Always check the current Hygiene Code for your own situation or seek advice.
